franchise

Comcast's franchise (pdf file) to provide cable television services in Arlington County is coming up for renewal in 2013. Arlington County is determining what community programming and cable service obligations ought to be included in a renewed Comcast franchise agreement. A major component of the franchise renewal process is the Community Needs Assessment. Information gathered from a broad representation of residents and agencies will help determine the future Public-Educational-Government TV access resources, community and educational benefits, and broadband communication services to be provided by Comcast.
Rob Billingsley, Arlington Cable Administrator (email Rbillingsley@ArlingtonVa.US or telephone 703.228.3195), is holding an informational meeting with representatives from various organizations and agencies to develop focus groups to help in assessing the Comcast cable TV franchise.
